Pacific Northwest Ballet is part of Bringing Theatre into the Classroom (BTiC) – a professional development opportunity for classroom teachers. BTiC is a week-long conference developed by three area theatres: Seattle Repertory Theatre, Seattle Children's Theatre and Book-It Repertory Theatre.
BTiC is an engaging, fun, five-day intensive summer conference for classroom teachers wanting to integrate theatre (and dance) into their curriculum. Hands-on participation allows time to test ideas and build them into workable, practical lesson plans. Workshops are taught by faculty from partnering organizations and cover a range of classroom options. Participants select workshops that are best suited for their classroom and are given an extensive resource notebook. Clock hours and university credit available.
In addition to the week-long summer intensive, teachers sign up for a one-week follow-up residency during the school year. A member of the BTiC faculty travels to your school and works as collaborator, coach, or co-teacher to integrate lessons learned during the summer workshop into practical lesson plans in the classroom. The follow-up component is essential in helping provide quality arts-infused education; there is no additional charge for follow-up.
