Oversight

DISCOVER DANCE is administered by Pacific Northwest Ballet, one of the largest and most highly regarded ballet companies in the United States. PNB’s DISCOVER DANCE program is currently in its 12th year and has more than 5,000 student alumni. During the course of the program, PNB acts as lead administrative coordinator for all aspects of the program with valuable input from teachers—including teaching artist assignments, planning, parent communication, and scheduling. PNB participates in regular program assessment with an outside evaluator for DISCOVER DANCE. These findings and results are shared with PNB, school and district staff, and as teachers and teaching artists.

Report on Student Learning

PNB participates in regular program evaluation of DISCOVER DANCE. Evaluation is based on student assessments, teacher feedback, and alignment with state arts standards. During the 2008-2009 school year PNB piloted a new student assessment plan and evaluation process. The report on this pilot, including program goals, student achievement, and assessment tools, is now available.
