Corps de Ballet

Josh Spell is from Beaumont, Texas. He trained at the School of American Ballet and attended summer courses at Pacific Northwest Ballet School. He joined Pacific Northwest Ballet as member of the corps de ballet in 2001.

Mr. Spell has danced leading roles in George Balanchine's The Four Temperaments and A Midsummer Night's Dream (Puck, Lysander, Bottom), Todd Bolender's Souvenirs, Val Caniparoli's The Bridge, Nacho Duato's Rassemblement, William Forsythe's One Flat Thing, reproduced, Ronald Hynd's The Merry Widow (Pritich) and The Sleeping Beauty (Gold and Silver pas de trois), Mark Morris' Pacific, Brian Reeder's Lost Language of the Flight Attendant, Jerome Robbins' Fancy Free and In the Night, Kent Stowell's Hail to the Conquering Hero, Twyla Tharp's Nine Sinatra Songs, and Christopher Wheeldon's Polyphonia. He originated leading roles in Kiyon Gaines' {SCHWA}, Paul Gibson's The Piano Dance and Sense of Doubt; and Olivier Wevers' Shindig, and he originated a featured role in Christopher Stowell's Quick Time.

He has also been featured in Balanchine's Prodigal Son, La Sonnambula, Symphony in C, Symphony in Three Movements, and La Valse; Val Caniparoli's Torque; Nicolo Fonte's Within/Without; Peter Martins' Fearful Symmetries; Kent Stowell's Carmina Burana, Nutcracker, Swan Lake, and The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet; Paul Taylor's Roses; and Twyla Tharp's Waterbaby Bagatelles.
