PNB Piano Fund
"Dance and music are extremely close and in their origins virtually inseparable." (John Martin, 1965).
The importance of high-quality instruments is essential, especially in the daily operations of a ballet company like Pacific Northwest Ballet and PNB School. Pianos at PNB are often used 1012 hours a day, making it imperative that they are durable, well-constructed instruments with exceptional tuning that can be played with ease and can withstand the rigors of continual use. PNB finds pianos of this caliber through Sherman Clay Piano Company, which has developed and maintained important relationships within the arts community for the past ten years.
In June of 2003, PNB and PNB School built on its relationship with Sherman Clay by implementing a new program the PNB Piano Fund. Through this program members of the community can donate quality, used pianos from manufacturers such as Boston, Chickering, Mason & Hamlin, and Steinway to PNB. Sherman Clay will then refurbish these instruments for use by PNB or sell them with the profits directly benefiting PNB. Just imagine your piano being played every day in rehearsals and classes, inspiring PNB dancers and students to reach new heights.
