PNB Lecture Demonstrationswith Violette Verdy and Mimi Paul Thursday, January 15, 5:307:00 pm Studio C, The Phelps Center, 301 Mercer St. Tickets $20Space is limited Join Pacific Northwest Ballet for a studio rehearsal and conversation with ballet legends Violette Verdy and Mimi Paul, originators of the ballerina roles in George Balanchine's Emeralds, the first ballet in Balanchine's triptych, Jewels. Ms. Verdy and Ms. Paul will coach PNB dancers in their Emeralds roles and discuss their work with Balanchine and the creation of Jewels in 1967. Tickets: $20 per ticket. During August and September, Ms. Tharp will create two world premiere works, which will be unveiled for the season's opening repertory program, All Tharp. Join us for a rare opportunity to hear Twyla Tharp discuss her new works for PNB, with excerpts performed onstage by Company dancers and the PNB Orchestra. Education Programs Manager Doug Fullington will discuss the influence of Balanchine's Russian training on his choreography, with a particular focus on pas de deux and corps de ballet choreography. Excerpts from PNB's 20082009 repertory will be performed by Company dancers and students from Pacific Northwest Ballet School.
