Sarah-Gabrielle Ryan is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She studied on scholarship at the Rock School for Dance Education and School of Pennsylvania Ballet, and she attended summer courses at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy, Ellison Ballet, the Rock School for Dance Education, San Francisco Ballet, the School of American Ballet, the School of Pennsylvania Ballet, and Pacific Northwest Ballet School. Ms. Ryan joined Pennsylvania Ballet II in 2014 and joined Pacific Northwest Ballet as an apprentice in 2016 and was promoted to corps de ballet in 2017.
In addition to her PNB repertory, Ms. Ryan danced leading roles at Pennsylvania Ballet II in George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker® (pas de deux), Marius Petipa’s Swan Lake (Black Swan pas de deux), and Jerome Robbins’ In the Night, and she originated roles in works by Shelby Glidden, Wendell Gray, Shamari Savannah, Durante Verzola, and Francis Veyette, as well as Colby Damon’s The Jungle Book (Bagheera). Ms. Ryan performed in Pennsylvania Ballet productions of works by Balanchine, Angel Corella, Matthew Neenan, Liam Scarlett, and Christopher Wheeldon, and she originated roles in works by Justin Allen and Verzola. She also performed in the corps de ballet of Balanchine’s Diamonds for the PBS broadcast of Pennsylvania Ballet at 50 and toured with the company to the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.
