Join us for an enriching and educational ballet experience this Summer!

Students participating in the Eastside Summer Dance Workshops at The Francia Russell Center will gain a deeper appreciation for ballet and its rich history through dance classes with our outstanding faculty and unique and fun projects.

The Francia Russell Center features state-of-the-art studios specifically designed to meet the School's needs. Features include dressing rooms with showers and generous locker space, a student lounge with a comfortable seating area for relaxing between classes and a library study area with reference materials and videotapes.




CHILDREN'S DIVISION ages 4–7

(4-year-olds must turn 5 by December 31, 2009)

Creative Movement / Pre-Ballet
Creative Movement provides an imaginative introduction to dance, rhythm and music. Pre-Ballet introduces students to ballet vocabulary while encouraging confidence, creativity, flexibility of movement and self-expression. Class structure and content is age-appropriate. Classes meet Monday through Friday for one-week sessions. Each session will focus on a different theme (Cinderella, Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, etc.). Students spend each two and a half hour day dancing, listening to stories and creating unique and fun craft projects relating to that week’s theme.

Cost: $220
Morning Session Times: 9:00–11:30 am
Afternoon Session Times: 12:30–3:00 pm
Each daily session includes a one-hour dance class, one hour of arts and crafts and a snack break.

Dress Code
Girls: Pink tights and pink leather ballet slippers with a white, short-sleeved leotard (no underwear). Mid-length to long hair is required to be pulled back into a neat bun and fastened securely using pins and a hair net. Only hair nets or crocheted bun covers (same color as hair) are permitted. Short hair needs to be fastened away from face.

Boys: Short-sleeved white leotards with black tights, thin white ankle-length dance socks (no tube socks) and white ballet shoes. Hair should be combed and fastened away from face if long.

Please note: Do not use fabric softeners when laundering dance attire, as it damages the studio floors.

STUDENT DIVISION Ages 8–15

Audition necessary for non-PNBS students ages 8–15 at The Francia Russell Center.

   • 12:30–2:00 pm ages 8–11
   • 2:00–3:30 pm ages 12–15
Registration begins 1/2 hour prior to the audition time.

Pacific Northwest Ballet School student levels are designed to challenge the physical and technical abilities of each student. Children enrolled in the Student Division learn progressive levels of ballet technique in a nurturing and professional environment.

Level I
Level I students meet three days a week for three weeks. Each three-hour day offers classes in classical ballet, music and/or folk dance. July 6–July 24. Cost: $450.

Level II
Level II students meet three days a week for three weeks. Each three-hour day offers classes in classical ballet, music and/or folk dance. July 6–July 24. Cost: $450.

Level III
Level III students meet three days a week for five weeks. Each three-hour day includes a class in ballet and jazz, modern or character class, and seminars focusing on dance-related topics. July 6–August 7. Cost: $950.

Level IV–V
Level IV and V students meet five days a week for five weeks. Students have a daily ballet technique class, followed by classes in pointe, jazz, modern or character, video analysis and seminars focusing on dance-related topics, plus one Pilates-based class per week. July 6–August 7. Cost: $1,530. (14–15 classes per week)
