Anaya
Luca Anaya (he/him) is from New York, New York. He studied at The School of American Ballet and Pacific Northwest Ballet. He also attended summer courses at Pacific Northwest Ballet, Miami City Ballet, Chautauqua Institution, and Manhattan Youth Ballet. He joined Pacific Northwest Ballet as an apprentice in 2022 and was promoted to corps de ballet in 2023.

Meet the 2024 NEXT STEP Artist: Luca Anaya
NEXT STEP provides opportunity, infrastructure, and support to grow tomorrow’s choreographic talent while providing a unique performance opportunity for PNB School’s Professional Division dancers. This year, Professional Division students performed original work from company dancers Lily Wills, Noah Martzall, Luca Anaya, Melisa Guilliams, and the co-choreographer teams of Elle Macy/Dylan Wald and Amanda Morgan/Christopher D’Ariano. Q&A with Apprentice Luca Anaya
How does your identity and background inform who you are as an artist? My identity as a Latin American man means everything to me. Often in my work, when certain roles allow for it, I try to find a way to add a little extra spice and character to the roles I’m dancing. My grandparents were also ballet dancers at the Ballet Nacional de Guatemala.
