Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847) was a German composer of the Romantic era. Like Mozart, he was a child prodigy who excelled in every aspect of music. He was one of the finest pianists of his time, as well as an excellent conductor and well-known educator. His popular incidental music for Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream includes the famous “Wedding March,” and his Variations Sérieuses is one of the great masterpieces of Romantic piano music.
