Pacific Northwest Ballet’s New Works Initiative was founded in 2005 when Peter Boal began his tenure as PNB’s Artistic Director. Through generous donations from individuals and foundations, the Initiative has facilitated the creation and acquisition of over 100 new works from choreographers like Alejandro Cerrudo, Justin Peck, Crystal Pite, Alexei Ratmansky, Christopher Wheeldon, and Twyla Tharp. These additions to our repertoire keep PNB at the forefront of advancing the ballet art form while inspiring dancers, donors, musicians, and audiences alike. We are also proud to have creative opportunities for our young choreographers within the Company, offering many their first mainstage opportunity.

Gifts to the New Works Initiative cover costs for choreographers, lighting, costume and scenic designers, music, and other related expenses. The importance of the Initiative cannot be measured. It helps to define the artistic vision of PNB.
