Tuition & Scholarships

Tuition

Students in Pre-Ballet and above are registered on a yearly basis; Duet, PNB Tots, and Creative Movement are registered on a quarterly basis.

Three payment options are available:

  • Full-year (Full-year payments are due on September 1, 2019)
  • Biannual Installments (Biannual Installments are due September 1, 2019 and January 15, 2020)
  • Quarterly Installments (for Duet, PNB Tots, and Creative Movement) OR Monthly Installments (for Pre-Ballet through Professional Division)
    • Quarterly payments are due September 1, October 28, January 20, and March 23
    • Monthly Installments are due by the first of each month, beginning September 1, 2019, and continue through June (for a total of 10 monthly payments).

Students admitted after the school year has begun are eligible to pay a pro-rated amount upon approval of the Managing Director.

Once classes have begun, tuition is not refundable. Students who miss class or withdraw before the end of the semester are still obligated for the full semester’s fees, whether they are paying on a semester basis or in monthly installments. Please refer to the PNB School Handbook for a complete outline of the School’s Tuition Policies.

Students are eligible for a pro-rated tuition refund only if they must withdraw from classes due to prolonged illness or severe injury, verified by a doctor’s certificate.

Students with outstanding accounts will not be admitted to class. There is a $20 charge for any returned check. Late payments will be charged a $50 late fee per month until the account balance is current. Accounts delinquent three months require enrollment in Auto-payments.

*Semester installments include a processing fee and are due in September and January.

**Monthly installments (10 months; September–June) include a processing fee.

The mandatory accident insurance fee is included in the tuition payment. Please note that PNBS’ insurance is a secondary policy. Students with outstanding accounts more than 30 days overdue will be charged a $50 late fee.

Scholarships & Financial Aid

A limited number of full and partial scholarships are available and are awarded on the basis of financial need, class performance and potential for a professional career. Scholarships are granted for no longer than one academic year.

Pacific Northwest Ballet School has a limited amount of stipend assistance funds available for Professional Division students to provide supplemental income for living expenses. A separate Stipend Application must be submitted to be considered for stipend assistance.

Determination of Scholarship and Stipend assistance is considered separately by the Financial AidCommittee.

Financial Aid forms are available from the School and must be completed and returned by the posted deadline for consideration by the Financial Aid Committee.

2019-20 School Year Application Deadline: July 1, 2019

Students must submit a separate application for Summer Course. Summer Financial Aid applications are available in January, and are due later in the spring (dates TBD).

Our financial assistance application process utilizes the services of School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS).  SSS does a comprehensive, standardized analysis of the information received and, upon completion, submits a report to PNB, which provides an estimated amount that your family can contribute toward educational expenses.

  • The application form for SSS is called the Parent Financial Statement (PFS). The PFS form can be completed online at http://sssbynais.org/parents/apply/  for a $51 non-refundable processing fee. Please apply no later than July 1 to allow sufficient processing time.
  • PNB School’s code number is 5630.
  • Questions regarding the PFS may be directly answered by SSS representatives by calling the Helpline at 800.344.8328.
  • For families with more than one student at PNB, only one PFS form is necessary.
  • For families whose parents are separated or divorced a separate PFS form must be completed by the non-custodial parent and mailed as directed above.
  • All supporting tax documentation must be submitted directly to SSS after completing the PFS

Pacific Northwest Ballet will not accept any applications past the stated deadline.  Applications that are incomplete or do not include all of the required paperwork will be automatically declined.

All applications and financial information are kept confidential. PNB does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, nationality, sex, or ethnic origin.

Please contact the School office if you have further questions regarding our financial assistance program.
