REACH Student Dance Group
A partnership between Pacific Northwest Ballet and Spectrum Dance Theater, REACH is an intensive dance workshop offered in two independent 8-week sessions for students ages 11-15. Participants collaborate with local dance artists to create and perform new pieces of choreography, culminating in a performance on stage at McCaw Hall. REACH offers a supportive environment and opportunities for students both new to and experienced in dance. All dance experience and ability levels welcome.
2019 Fall Session
with Amanda Morgan, Pacific Northwest Ballet Company Dancer
The Fall REACH session, led by Amanda Morgan, is designed for dancers of all levels. Students will learn movement phrases with a focus on the dynamic and performance qualities of those phrases, as well as engaging in choreography tasks aimed at developing their own artistic voice.

Amanda Morgan is from Tacoma, Washington. She studied at Dance Theatre Northwest and Pacific Northwest Ballet School, and she attended summer courses at Alonzo King LINES Ballet, Boston Ballet School, and the School of American Ballet. She participated in PNB School’s exchange with the Palucca University of Dance in Dresden, where she also performed with Dresden Semperoper Ballett. Ms. Morgan joined Pacific Northwest Ballet as an apprentice in 2016 and was promoted to corps de ballet in 2017.
2019 Winter Session
with Mikhail Calliste, Spectrum Dance Theater Company Dancer
The Winter Reach session, taught by Spectrum dancer Mikhail Calliste, will capture movement that is inviting for all. It is designed to enhance the natural and technical abilities of each individual, no matter the artistic level, as they create phrases to express who they are based on specific ideas developed throughout time.
Rehearsals: Saturdays, January 11-March 14 (no class 2/15) from 4:30-6:00pm, at Spectrum Dance Theater

Mikhail Calliste, a native of Trinidad and Tobago, migrated to New York City at a young age and began his training at The Martha Graham School. Soon after, Mikhail joined the professional training program at The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, where he was immersed in many dance forms. After graduating from Talent Unlimited High School, Mikhail furthered his training in Philadelphia at The University of the Arts and acquired a BFA in Dance in 2018 as a director’s full scholarship recipient, under the direction of Donna Faye Burchfield. Mikhail has performed works by Alvin Ailey, Martha Graham, Ronald K. Brown, Mark Haim, Douglas Becker, and Netta Yerushalmy, among others, and also received a field study course in The Pennsylvania Ballet second company program. Most recently, Mikhail participated in the Ballet Preljocaj Professional Training Program in Aix-en-Provence, presented choreographic research at The National College Dance Festival, and continues indulging in movement creation
$175 per session or $300 for both sessions.
