New Works Initiative

Help Us Forge the Future of Dance

Since its founding in 2005, Pacific Northwest Ballet’s New Works Initiative has facilitated the creation and acquisition of over 150 new works.

Every New Work is Creation

New Works allows PNB dancers to collaborate and create world premieres with today’s most in-demand and sought-after choreographers. New works created for PNB include Price Suddarth’s Dawn Patrol, Jessica Lang’s Black Wave, Dani Rowe’s The Window, and Alexei Ratmansky’s Wartime Elegy.

Every New Work is Addition

New Works brings exciting productions to PNB that increase the range of our repertoire and challenge our dancers artistically. New works added to PNB’s repertoire include Crystal Pite’s Emergence and The Seasons’ Canon, Justin Peck’s The Times Are Racing, and Twyla Tharp’s Sweet Fields.

Gifts to the New Works Initiative cover costs for choreographers, lighting, costume and scenic designers, music, and other related expenses. Donor support allows us to continue creating opportunities for young choreographers and those whose voices will add much-needed diversity to the dance landscape.
