William Lin-Yee is from San Francisco, California. He trained at the Contra Costa Ballet Centre, San Francisco Ballet School, and the School of American Ballet. In 2004, he became an apprentice with New York City Ballet and was also a Mae. L. Wien Award recipient. Mr. Lin-Yee joined Pacific Northwest Ballet as a corps de ballet dancer in 2008. Mr. Lin-Yee composed the score for Kiyon Gaines A Piece in P-I-E-C-E-S for Pacific Northwest Ballet’s 2011 Next Step performance. Leading RolesGeorge Balanchine’s The Four Temperaments, A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Theseus), and Serenade; Peter Boal’s Giselle (Wilfride); William Forsythe's One Flat Thing, reproduced; Jiri Kylian’s Sechs Tänze (Six Dances); Kent Stowell's Nutcracker (Prince) and Swan Lake (Baron von Rothbart); and Twyla Tharp's Nine Sinatra Songs and Opus 111. Originated Leading Roles: Benjamin Millepied's 3 Movements. Featured RolesGeorge Balanchine's Symphony in C and Kent Stowell's Cinderella and Nutcracker. At New York City Ballet, Mr. Lin-Yee danced featured roles in George Balanchine's A Midsummer Night's Dream (Theseus), Peter Martins' The Sleeping Beauty (Asia, King, Cavalier), and Richard Tanner's Sonatas and Interludes.
